Discord DM bot: private answers with slash commands

Give your community a private way to ask questions. DMCircuit answers /ask and your keyword commands in seconds, and only the person who asked sees the reply.

Updated October 12, 2026 · DMCircuit v1.0.0
Short answer

DMCircuit registers /ask and one slash command per keyword rule in your Discord server. It answers privately with keyword rules or Claude, with up to 5 buttons and up to 1,900 characters, and sends campaign messages as DMs from your bot only to subscribers and, if you choose, recent users. It never reads server channels.

How it works

  • /ask takes any question and answers privately, from your knowledge base.
  • Keyword commands are created from your rules, named after each rule's first keyword, so /pricing or /guide gives the right answer and button.
  • Fast acknowledgement. Discord expects a quick response, so DMCircuit defers and follows up within seconds. If no reply is produced, it says “Got it. Someone from our team will follow up.” so the command never hangs.
  • Verified. Discord signs every interaction with Ed25519, checked against your app's public key.

Campaign DMs from your bot

Campaigns on Discord go as a DM from your bot (using the bot token), to subscribers and, if you choose, people who recently used your commands. Discord only lets a bot DM people who share a server with it and allow DMs from server members. Claude tends to schedule Discord for evenings and weekends, in a casual tone.

What it won't do

  • Read messages in your server channels. It answers only slash commands and buttons.
  • Send follow-up check-ins after a slash command, because Discord doesn't allow reopening that reply later.

Tips

Announce /ask in your welcome channel. Communities use slash commands readily when they know the answer is private.

  • STOP, unsubscribe and similar one-word replies stop every automated message to that person on that platform until they send START.
  • Security issues, refunds, legal questions, press, angry messages and “talk to a human” pause the bot for that person for 24 hours and alert you by email and phone.
  • No more than 6 bot messages per contact per hour, and one emergency switch silences every automated send.

Questions

Does the bot read my server's messages?

No. It answers only slash commands and button clicks.

Can the bot DM everyone in my server?

No. Campaign DMs go only to subscribers and, if you choose, recent users who share a server with the bot and allow DMs.

How do I add the commands?

Click Add slash commands on the dashboard's Platforms page. It registers /ask and one command per keyword rule.

Try it before you set it up

The live demo runs the real dashboard against a fictional coaching business, with every page clickable and nothing sent. When you are ready, the build handbook walks through setup in the browser.
