Instagram comment-to-DM: send the link when someone comments a keyword

“Comment GUIDE and I'll DM you the link” is Instagram's strongest lead pattern. DMCircuit sends that DM for you, once per comment, within Meta's rules.

Short answer

When a comment on your Instagram post or Facebook Page contains one of a rule's keywords, DMCircuit sends one private reply to that person with your opener, a button and then the tracked link. It never replies privately to the same comment twice, and comments that match no keyword are left for you.

How comment-to-DM works

  1. You publish a post with a call to action in the caption, such as “Comment GUIDE for the free checklist”.
  2. Someone comments “guide please!”. Instagram sends the comment to DMCircuit's webhook.
  3. DMCircuit matches “guide” against your rules (3 to 5 keywords each, small typos tolerated) and sends one private reply: your opener with a button.
  4. When they tap the button or reply, the conversation is open, and the follow-up with your tracked link goes out inside Meta's 24-hour window.
  5. If they buy through a Stripe Payment Link, the sale is credited to that conversation.

Captions that work

  • Use one short, unusual word as the keyword (GUIDE, RECIPE, PLAN), and make it one of the rule's keywords.
  • Say what they'll receive and that it arrives by DM, so the message is expected.
  • Pin a comment that repeats the keyword for people who skim.
  • Keep the private reply useful on its own: what the link is, and one sentence on why it helps.

Limits you should know

  • One private reply per comment. Meta allows a single private reply to a comment, and DMCircuit enforces it.
  • No public auto-replies. Comments that match no keyword are left for you to answer in public.
  • Instagram and Facebook only. WhatsApp, Slack, Discord and the others have no comment-to-DM.
  • App Review. Meta must approve instagram_business_manage_comments (and pages_messaging for Facebook) before the public gets private replies.

Every platform also follows these rules:

  • STOP, unsubscribe and similar one-word replies stop every automated message to that person on that platform until they send START.
  • Security issues, refunds, legal questions, press, angry messages and “talk to a human” pause the bot for that person for 24 hours and alert you by email and phone.
  • No more than 6 bot messages per contact per hour, and one emergency switch silences every automated send.

Questions

Is comment-to-DM allowed by Instagram?

Yes. Meta's API lets a business send one private reply to a comment. DMCircuit sends exactly one, and only when the comment contains a keyword you chose.

Does it work on Facebook too?

Yes. Keyword comments on your Facebook Page get one private reply in Messenger, the same way.

What if the comment has a typo?

Matching tolerates a small typo, so “guied” still finds a rule whose keyword is “guide”.

Can I see which posts produce sales?

Offer links are signed per contact, and Stripe Payment Links credit each sale to the conversation, so you can see revenue by offer on the dashboard.
